More lovely Googleness. Chrome for a Cause – whereby every new tab you open accumulates points that can be converted into tangible donations to charities that really need them

A friend posted this in Facebook this afternoon, and I’ve just seen it mentioned here too – seems a few people have only found out about it too late (it ran from the 13th to 19th December).

I think it’s brilliant. Maybe others might think that a ‘real’ contribution might require more effort, but I think this is a fantastic way of allowing people to feel they’ve done something, with a brand doing all the heavy lifting.

Not unlike the Waitrose Community Matters project – where as a customer you get to exercise choice over where Waitrose focuses its localised CSR efforts.
